Music Sets All Stages… The Stage… Beautiful Imperfection…

While meandering through iTunes, trying to create my next playlist, I came across two words that caught my eye… “Beautiful Imperfection.” Since I consider all things in my life to be beautifully imperfect, I could not help but take a moment to check out my new find, the album “Beautiful Imperfection” by Asa.  ”Why Can’t We”, the first song on the album was just the beginning of my night taking a fantastic turn…

Immediately, I was hooked.  The beginning of “Why Can’t We” had a nice beat… and then came Asa.  Her voice… raspy, cool and intoxicating. Each song on the album has its own style.  The one consistency is Asa’s robust voice which put me in a strange trance like state.  Her music is eclectic, incorporating a soul/pop/jazzy vibe with a punch.  I could imagine myself listening to Asa while sitting by a fire with a smooth glass of red wine, or waking up on a lazy Sunday morning, sipping a hot cup of coffee with her tunes humming in the background.

After listening to the first few songs, it was clear that my headphones had a strategic plan of their own.  Their intent, to stay on my head for the night, blasting tunes from “Beautiful Imperfection”, moving on to her 2009 album “Asa” and more.  The evening had taken an unexpected turn, and I relinquished all control of it. Like her song “Jailer”, I felt like a prisoner to her music.  The difference, I had no intention of getting out.
