What Type Of Morning Person Are You?

How many times have you wished for just a few more minutes of sleep in the morning? If you’re the type of person who prefers the snooze button on your alarm over turning it off, ask yourself this:

If you knew you were going to die today, would you really want that extra minute of sleep?

They say that one small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day. My mornings are usually so rushed that “one small positive thought” is the last thing on my mind.  My goal is to get my daughters and I ready and out the door before breaking into a sweat, losing my voice from yelling, and spontaneously combusting from working my body too hard before it has a chance to warm up. Mornings can be exhausting right?

I envy women standing at the bus stop with their kids, dressed for the gym, hair done, with just the right amount of makeup (which baffles me because I can barely see straight in the morning).  A GREAT morning for me, is when I remember wear my bra before the bus comes! I may not share the same early morning drive as some mothers, and I’d love to know what they put in their morning cup of Jo, but I do know this…

It’s something we all share regardless of being ready to conquer the world our kids at 6am… Every morning is precious gift; it’s another chance for you to live; to create the life you want; to be with the ones you love; and to open your eyes… because there are so many beautiful things in front of you just waiting to be absorbed.  You choose whether you want to experience the beauty of life, or sleep through it.

Beauty: The Truth About Being Beautiful… In 3 Steps

Step #1
The next time you wake up, before washing your face, brushing your teeth or even your hair, look in the mirror and think of what you find beautiful about yourself.

Step #2
Now, turn around, close your eyes, look within (I hate when people say that but please… just do it). Now, think of the things that make you beautiful.

Step #3
Forget yourself for a moment. Think of someone you love, whether one of your children, a spouse, parent or friend. What are the most beautiful things about them?

I did this exercise myself. When I looked in the mirror, I was not impressed. I may have even seen a late onset chin hair <crickets>… Really though, I did focus on the exterior.

Then, I turned around, took a deep breath, closed my eyes and looked within. I saw a lot more beauty, felt better about myself, and even cracked a smile, but didn’t completely forget about the possible chin hair.

Next came step 3… I thought about my children, one at a time… Not once did I think about their exterior. The things I found most beautiful were who they were as individuals. Funny enough, it was the quirky things they did that I found most endearing. I had a similar reaction when I thought of everyone I cared about. The last thing I thought of was their exterior beauty.

With this thinking, it amazes me how many people are quick to judge others!

Between family members and friends, I have heard people say things about so many people before they have a chance to close their eyes and actually get to know them (myself included).

My closest friends today are the most beautiful people I know.

I am blessed to have them in my life. Had I not taken the opportunity to get to know them, and fall in love with who they actually are, I would not be who I am today, for each of them have positively affected me, and encouraged me to be who I am WITHOUT INHIBITIONS!
