Gifts From The Heart

There is nothing better than receiving a little something from my daughters… Especially when they are gifts from the heart.

As we drove home this evening, my girls sat quietly in the back seat of my SUV.  Normally, the two of them are begging for me to turn up the music as loud as possible without bursting an eardrum.  They love to belt out songs just like their mom.  Fortunately for them, unlike their mother, they have lovely singing voices… sometimes.  This evening was different.  The music was soft and my daughters were not singing.  In fact, they weren’t even speaking.

Finally, we were home.  Each of us got into our pj’s, fed the dogs, let them out, then let them out again… and again… and then it happened… First came Talia, holding a picture for me in her hand.  Next, Julia came running with a picture in her hand.  They both handed me the pictures and said, “Here mommy, these are for you.”  I looked at them and smiled.  After thanking them, I asked when they made the pictures.  Both of them looked at each other with a little smirk.  Then Julia replied, “We missed you so much today that we decided to draw special pictures for you in the car.”

I love Talia’s depiction of birds… and Julia, well, she decided it would be a great idea to draw a portrait of “D” and I.  Too cute!
