Growing up, I loved Halloween.  Well into my teens, Halloween was just ok.  My early twenties were more scary than a combination of all my 20 something Halloween’s, therefore, the holiday was a bore.  As I grew more mature (or so I thought), my late twenties hit. I was definitely too old for Halloween and dressing up. Somehow, I thought I had better things to do than get dressed up and celebrate.  Then… I had children.

Halloween fun, has since, come full circle and oddly enough, I love it again.  The joy of watching children dress up in costumes, their hearts truly believing they are what they wear, and the sheer joy on their faces as they ring each door bell, say “trick or treat” with a smile, and dig their little hands into a bucket of candy hoping to pull out their favorite treats!

This year, Halloween parties seemed endless.  Though I thought I would grow tired after the first or second, each was a bit more fun.  By the fifth party, instead of dreading Halloween night, I was excited for the last hurrah… or should I say last bucket of candy I would have to fill my growing tummy with!  Regardless, October 31, 2012 turned out to be my favorite Halloween in 37 years.  Although exhausted, I’m glad the girls costumes didn’t fall apart before their big night, and they were able to smile, laugh, and enjoy every minute of being a Night Butterfly and a Snow Queen.  May their dreams be filled with sugar, spice and everything nice.  Happy Halloween All!  Until next year. :)
