Simple Act Of Kindness

A Special Little Something Happened today… It’s A Definite “Must Share” :)

Once in a while, a special person, touches a special person (yes, I am referring to myself as special), and does not expect anything special in return.

This morning, I was touched by a special person who did not want anything in return.  The past 3 days have been a bit turbulent in my world.  In and out of doctors offices, and having to endure debilitating pain at times, it has not been easy to elevate my mood.  This is where special people work itty bitty miracles whether they know it or not.

By 8:30(ish) am, I had dropped my girls off at school and was on my way to work.  Rather than take a direct route, I decided to go the long way and make a pit stop for coffee.  The drive through was calling my name. I placed my order and patiently waited for my turn to pay.  In front of me was a silver car.  I couldn’t see the driver, nor did I recognize the car.  As I pulled up to the drive through window, the cashier handed me my coffee.  Before I could hand her my money, she let me know that the person in front of me had paid for my coffee (by choice).  Assuming I did not hear her correctly, I tried handing her my money.  She shook her head and replied, “the man in the car before you paid for you already.  He said he wanted to pay for you.” Shocked, I questioned her again asking if she was sure.  She simply nodded, smiled, and said “yes, ma’am, he wanted to pay for you.  You don’t know him?”  ”No, I don’t,” I replied. As I pulled away, I noticed the silver car take a left out of the lot and drive away.  The man, whose face I never saw, didn’t even give me a chance to thank him.  He also didn’t give me a chance to show him the smile on my face.  Although I will probably never know why he paid for my coffee, I will most likely never forget the simple act of kindness I fortunately experienced during a time of difficulty.

Just another one of those “it takes so little to make a difference” moments.

  1. This happened to a friend of mine once! What an awesome way to start the day, as well as remind you that despite all the bad in the world, there are still kind hearted and selfless people. I love when I experience simple acts of kindness, even if it is someone making the effort to hold the door for me because it restores your faith in humanity. One thought- pay it forward!

    • Although I already replied on linkedin, I had to add my two bits here. My two bits start with a THANK YOU! You are absolutely right about faith in humanity :) xoxo thank you for posting!
