How an innocent day at the park can go wrong

An innocent day at the park with 6 kids and 2 mothers.  What could possibly go wrong?

It was a beautiful day.  The sun was shining, birds were chirping and kids were playing.  And then, one mom decided that it was time to take some pictures.  What this mom did not realize is that the pictures would result in the below.

I just had to post them because they gave us suck a chuckle when we “actually” looked at them! photo efe05db6-2bbc-4458-80a0-4123b4602a29_zpsd51fd9af.jpg

Bubbles everywhere

Do bubbles ever get old?  Bubbles are the number one “extra” I love to add to all birthday presents for little ones!  Especially in the summer!  Somehow, they are always trending!

As much as I cannot stand a song I learned with Talia at Gymboree, it has stuck in my brain and I most likely will never get it out!  So… that said, here goes…

There are bubbles everywhere, everywhere (clap) (clap)

The Poolside Turtle

The Poolside Turtle… And  A Twist… Of course I couldn’t go a whole week without mentioning some fun with my girls!  Well, yesterday, “D” and I caught our daughter Julia doing one of the oddest things…

As we were sitting poolside, much to our disappointment, Julia had found, yet another floatation device to use in the pool.  Every time Julia finds something to help her stay afloat in water, she regresses with her ability to swim by herself. Somehow though, Julia is always able to “borrow” some poor child’s floatation device… most likely through some sort of bargaining or possibly a quiet threat. Yesterday was no different from most days and “D” and I watched Julia as she made her way through the deep end with yet another floatie.

As she swam past us, we got a cute little wave from Julia and then she went back to some serious swimming… That was, until we watched her showing off in front of a pretty lifeguard.  Although unsure of what she was trying to do, I will leave you this… It’s a picture of baby Julia, doing what we now call… drum roll please… The Poolside Turtle :)

Healthy Summer Hair

Summer is here!  This summer has been all about having fun in the sun, the pool, and of course, more sun, leading to more pool time… Unfortunately, due to the sun and pool, my hair hasn’t enjoyed the summer quite as much as I have.

For years, I believed my hair was one of my best features… then came this year.  I first noticed the disgusting change when I was swimming in the pool with my girls.  I noticed a prickly feeling on the nape of my neck.  Disturbed, and assuming it was my bathing suit strap, I went to move it away.  Much to my dismay, it was not my bathing suit.  In fact, it was my hair.  Hair is supposed to feel soft when submersed in water.  Instead, mine felt like Jute which only meant one thing… split ends!  After leaving the pool, I went straight home and jumped in the shower.  I conditioned my hair over and over again, hoping to change the feeling.  It didn’t help one bit.  My hair still felt like crap, in turn, looking even worse.

The diagnosis… Nasty Swimming Pool Hair! (aka The Pool Head)

We all know how women can be… do you really want to hear them whisper “gross, look at that pool head” as you walk by?  Never mind how awful rough hair feels… throw some humidity into the mix and well, you get the gist.  The next day, I went to the mall in search of something that would help… What I found… My new favorite hair product by Wen… it even smells pretty!

Pinterest For Therapy?

Beezid

Pinterest is great for so many reasons but I never thought I would resort to using it in a therapeutic way.  Recently, I suffered from a full day of anxiety and irritation, due to an inane set of events which were completely out of my control.  Even my ride home was awful.  My mother always told me never to drive behind someone wearing a hat.  For the 100th time, she was right.  While the man, with hat of course, drove in front of me, I had a strong urge to accelerate and push him off the road… yes, I realize I am sounding like a crazy person but we have all been there.

Finally home, I put my little ones to bed.  Instead of cleaning up like I usually do, I chose to turn the tv off, plant myself on my couch, put my feet up and just breathe… that lasted about a minute.  Bored, thinking of brainless activities to keep myself occupied, it came to me!  Out of the corner of my eye, I could see my iPad.  I jumped up, poured myself a glass of wine and grabbed my infamous iPad.  Starting with a few games, not doing well, and getting frustrated once again, I could only wish for a masseuse to relieve my stress.  I stopped playing games and stared at the screen.  There it was, right in front of me… The Pinterest icon.  The pretty red and white icon in all it’s simplicity was calling my name.

It had been some time since I had used Pinterest.  Although not much has changed, the site never quite bores.  Starting with a few of my friends walls, I found some nice things to pin.  Moving on, I decided to search using the term “white”.  Somehow, my white wall always gives me pleasant feeling.  It has a calming factor.  Quickly, I noticed pins with quotes, a word here and there, even poems.  Most were positive and helped get me to a ”feel good” state of mind.  I noticed the tension in my back slowly dissipated and my mood swinging back to positive.  I was feeling better and it cost me absolutely nothing… amazing what something so simple can do…  I created a Pinterest Wall dedicated to that evening called “Pinteresting Words.”  See my wall below!
