Allergies And DNA

Beezid

My allergies were diagnosed in the fourth grade. Yes, I am allergic to Penicillin. Shortly after my hospital stint, and diagnosis, another doctor informed me that she was not going to prescribe me any medication with cillin in it’s name, since I could be allergic to all cillins. Since then, I have claimed that yes, I am allergic to all cillins. My daughters, fortunately, are not allergic to Penicillin or any other cillin for that matter.

Although I have done my share of fibbing in regards to medication that I am sort of allergic to, it seems justified. The reaction I experienced was awful. Clearly, I would have a fear of cillins. I also claim to be allergic to some “not so edible” foods. For instance, mushrooms, certain types of fish, and a few other choice delectable bites. The reality though, I simply cannot stand the thought of putting any of them in my mouth and having to chew or swallow. When presented with these foods, rather than having to explain myself, it is much easier to simply say, “thanks, but I’m allergic.”

This evening, the dark reality of my fibbing surfaced. Starving, after a long day at the office, I decided to order a pizza and have it delivered. “Pepper and onion please,” I said to the man on the other end of the phone. I felt faint… I could already smell the pizza though. It seemed like forever before the pizza guy came knocking on my door. Famished and ready to eat, I quickly signed the receipt and grabbed my pizza from the driver’s hand. I rushed to my kitchen, grabbed a plate and opened the box! About to grab a slice, I noticed one small problem… mushrooms.

Gagging, starving and feeling faint, I had few options… sob, eat the darn pizza regardless or call the pizza guy. Clearly, my options were limited but I wanted “my” pizza so I called. While waiting for pizza number two, my daughter Talia asked why I didn’t just eat the pizza. I informed her that I couldn’t eat it because it had mushrooms on it. I told her mommy was allergic to mushrooms and could get sick if I ate them. Unfortunately, my girls are smarter than I am. They both looked at each other with a silly grin on their face… Then, Talia informed me that she was allergic to peas, therefor could not eat them. Julia nodding, said “yeah mom, me too. But I am also allergic to chicken and will probably get really sick if you make me eat any.” Both my girls, blatantly lying to me with a smirk on their adorable faces… now what?

Starting A Website Or A Blog? Social Networking T.I.P.P.s

SOCIAL NETWORKING T.I.P.P.s From The Imperfectly Perfect Parent

Before you Start A Blog Or Website, Think About The Questions Below…

If you answer yes to all 6 of them, a new venture in the cyber/blogging world may be perfect for you!

  1. Are you comfortable being in the public spotlight?
  2. Do you have thick skin and are you open to being criticized by people you don’t know?
  3. Do you love to write?
  4. Are you organized?
  5. Can you be consistent?
  6. Do you like to socialize?
When working with new bloggers and bloggers to be, the questions above are the first ones I have them answer.  Writing and blogging can be lucrative and a lot of fun. There is a flip side though.  A blogger needs to remind themselves on a daily basis that everything published is subject to scrutiny.  Everything you write is in the public eye. Anything written could lead to awful criticism.  On the other hand, blogging can be very rewarding.
Now, before delving into to working on your business plan or creating your website, you need to establish a few basic things…
  1. Determine the purpose of your website,
  2. Be sure of the message you want to convey, and
  3. Set boundaries for yourself up front…. that is, if you are not planning on being offensive.

More to come… Until then, happy blogging!

Getting Social… Discussion About Social Networking

Since social networking sites have come such a long way, and there are so many more available, I thought it would be a great idea to get more people involved in collaborating on their own time.  Sharing each of our experiences and opinions can only benefit all of us.  That is why I created a page on my website called “Trending Social.  The page is brand new and I need your help to make it a valuable resource for everyone in the blogosphere.

Just click on my page and start sharing.  There is no catch.  You can share your opinions in an open forum and gain some perspective from others facing the same things you are.  The point… to learn about what others use to help their business, and, to share experiences with various platforms.  The result, hopefully, is to help each other avoid wasting time on what does not work, rather spend time on what does.

Google Plus, Facebook, Profiles, Pages, Foursquare And More…

Social Networking has never been so tough!  With the influx of different networking sites, and options within each site, it is a wonder that anyone in the business knows what to do next, or better yet, where their readers are lurking.  My suggestion, if you have ample amounts of free time, and want to network yourself to the point of exhaustion, get on all of them and knock yourself out! Tweet to your heart’s content, post on Facebook all day long, and I mean through both your profile page, and your business page.  Connect with everyone you can through social networking means, and jump on every new tool offered, whether it works or not.  Then, when you are truly exhausted, and your website, blog or business, has awful content because you were too busy trying to gain a large following regardless of whether they are loyal or not, QUIT, and come back to this post and read on.

As a newbie in the blogosphere, (not the writing sphere), getting started was a challenge.  I did what a lot of people do.  I tried to start working with everything I could all at once.  I was tweeting, posting on Facebook, throwing my information on stumble upon, and living the life of a social networker by night (get your mind out of the gutter), and getting absolutely nowhere.  My website was geared towards gaining a following.  I struggled with writing, because my focus was not about content.  I was more interested in bringing people to my site than enjoying what I wrote about. Then, I did exactly what I am telling you to do, QUIT!  I put up my white flag, and took down my website. Realizing that I did not like the feeling of defeat, I decided to start fresh.  A new name, a new site, and content I enjoyed writing about, regardless of what the masses wanted to hear.  So here I am, Trending Mom, writing about the things I like.

Starting Trending Mom was refreshing.  It’s fun and enjoyable.  Now, when I throw myself into all sorts of social networking sites, I try to do a little research first but, the reality is, my main focus is my writing.  The social aspect comes second.  I have tried to launch many ideas through my site that didn’t work out… yet…  Fortunately though, some have.  Although I could go on forever… we all love talking about ourselves, don’t we?  Rather, I will leave you, so that I can do a bit of research, and put a little something together for my readers and newbies in the business.  After all the angst I have gone through trying to figure social networking resources out, the least I can do, is save you a bit of time as well.  :)

By The Way, If you get a chance, I would love your vote!  It takes 2 Clicks!  One on the link, the other, thumbs up Trending Mom!
