Imperfectly Perfect

Leaving A Lovely Legacy | March 4th, 2013 | To My Daughters…

“I am not a perfect mother and I will never be. You are not a perfect daughter and you will never be. But put us together and we will be the best mother and daughter we would ever be.”
Zoraida Pesante

Somehow this picture sums up the quote above.  I don’t know what it is about this picture that I dislike immensely, yet love at the same time…

 photo jj_zps1e753865.jpg

It could be how stiff we all look (or me for that matter), or quite possibly the emptiness in our faces.  It’s the opposite of what we had exuded on that evening.  We had some of the best laughs that night.  Both of you shed a few very tired tears as well.  Of all pictures taken that evening, this was the only one where our faces had the same expressions.

It was as if we had a moment, which was just ours, and we were all feeling the same emotion, perfectly connected with each other.

Fantastic Photo App

My Self Portrait Phase Has Yet To Dissipate.
There are some positive outcomes though (regardless of what I may look like)…

The positives:

1.  Learning more about my camera,
2.  Learning about myself…

For example:
(a) I do NOT look great in many types of lighting,
(b) I have more wrinkles than I thought I did,
(c) My hair looks better when I have not washed it as long as I don’t zone in on the roots.

3.  Finally, finding new and fantastic apps to hide all the things that I have learned about myself!
Vintique, happens to be ranked very high on my long list of “must have” apps!
The picture below: Unwashed Hair, Barely Any Makeup, Exhausted With A Touch Of … drum roll please… Vintique!

Last Minute Christmas Cards

Shutterfly 50 Free Prints

Last minute Christmas cards… Year after year, I’m late sending Christmas cards.

It’s hard to believe December is already here!  Every time I reach into my mailbox, I get a friendly reminder that I am once again, late sending our Christmas cards.  Rather than wait until the week before Christmas, I decided this year would be different!  That said, December 10th, I had a date with shutterfly!  The past few years, shutterfly has come to my rescue countless times.  From birthday invitations, to thank you notes and of course, Christmas cards, their wide array of card choices and quick delivery (which happened to be free this year) has never failed me.

Yesterday, I uploaded a few photos on the shutterfly website, added them to the card of my choice, played around with the editing tools (I went with Sepia for the look), and voila!!! Check out our 2012 Christmas cards below!  One more thing to check off my list!

Pinterest Cravings

My late night obsession with Pinterest has left me hungry.

12:30 am…

Fortunately, this daylight savings, I won’t be disappointed at 2am when the bars and clubs close, even though the clocks are set back.  Actually, I don’t think I have been disappointed by the nightlife scene since my mid twenties.  Instead, this Saturday/Sunday night/morning, I had a date.  A long-lasting date with one of my favorite social networking sites, Pinterest.

Pinning away, I found myself hooked on a page filled with fantastic things to eat.  I’m sure there were recipes somewhere in there but instead, all I could do was salivate as I stared at all the food I wanted so much to eat.  As I scrolled through the page, each picture looked more delectable than the last leading me to the worst feeling ever… Pinteresting Cravings.  Although I ended my date disappointed and starving, I am sure that I gained a pound… or two.

Don’t Forget To Follow Me on Pinterest xoxo!

The Poolside Turtle

The Poolside Turtle… And  A Twist… Of course I couldn’t go a whole week without mentioning some fun with my girls!  Well, yesterday, “D” and I caught our daughter Julia doing one of the oddest things…

As we were sitting poolside, much to our disappointment, Julia had found, yet another floatation device to use in the pool.  Every time Julia finds something to help her stay afloat in water, she regresses with her ability to swim by herself. Somehow though, Julia is always able to “borrow” some poor child’s floatation device… most likely through some sort of bargaining or possibly a quiet threat. Yesterday was no different from most days and “D” and I watched Julia as she made her way through the deep end with yet another floatie.

As she swam past us, we got a cute little wave from Julia and then she went back to some serious swimming… That was, until we watched her showing off in front of a pretty lifeguard.  Although unsure of what she was trying to do, I will leave you this… It’s a picture of baby Julia, doing what we now call… drum roll please… The Poolside Turtle :)

Instagram Everything – Instagram Apps

The Wonderful World Of Instagram, Apps For Instagram And A New Level Of Social Networking And Social Media!

Posting pictures on Instagram could be my latest obsession!  Until yesterday, I didn’t realize I had a number of Instagram followers.  Personally, I have no idea why anyone would have followed me on Instagram since I only had 4 pictures posted… Well, to be honest, I forgot I had an account.

Yesterday, 5pm:  My friend was showing me pictures on her phone and said… “Don’t you just love Instagram?”… Having forgotten about Instagram, and having little knowledge what all the fuss was over, I just nodded.  I admit though, her pictures looked great!

Yesterday, 9pm:  Intention – Writing.  I sat in front of my computer contemplating… to write, or to Instagram…

I started with the search engine… no luck… Oops!  I forgot, it was an app!

On to the app store…

Instagram now has apps for a Mac computer!

Ok, so you still cannot upload images from a Mac to Instagram, but who cares?  The app was created for an iPhone… Not a computer.  The purpose of the app:  Make the pictures you take from your cell phone look fantastic!

Next, my iPhone…

Visiting the app store, I realized that I already had the app.  I even had an account.  A simple upgrade was necessary.  Once complete, the fun began!  Picture after picture, I created one masterpiece after another (lie… the app created one masterpiece after another).  I posted each to Facebook, Twitter and more.  A little overkill?  Yes, absolutely!  The next thing I knew, it was 1:30Am and it was time to call it a night… Bye bye Instagram… Until next time…

The world of apps associated with Instagram is so vast, I thought I would include just a few (honestly), of the apps I found!

Instalook - Find Instagram Photos around you

InstaHelp - The Unofficial Guide for Instagram

PhotoVote - Instagram Challenges

MyPad+ for Facebook, Twitter & Instagram

Calendagram - Wall calendars from your Instagram photos!

Clockstagram

Dashr - Instagram & RSS news reader

Frames for Instagram

Insta – Text!

InstaClip - Instagram Photo Cropper

InstaCollage Pro – Pic Frame & Pic Caption for Instagram FREE

InstaCommentor for Instagram

InstaFramer – Coolest photo frames ever.

InstaFrManager for Instagram

There are even more… I just got tired of cutting and pasting… Enjoy Insta-whatevering away!  Next on my list… Adding it to my website!  xo

How To – Mobile Photography

Yes folks, as much as I cannot stand admitting this, but… Photography has gone mobile and that is not going to change!

Mobile photography goes against everything I have preached… I love my Canon Rebel!  My pictures have never looked so wonderful.  Unfortunately, I cannot carry my Canon with me all the time.  On most occasions, my iPhone is my primary go to for capturing memorable moments.

This evening, I hit the JACKPOT!  I found my next purchase!  SnApp Shots, the book, written by Adam Bronkhorst. SnApp Shots is the ultimate guide for creating great photos using your mobile device.  Although the emphasis of the book is on how to take great photographs with a mobile phone, it also covers the wonderful world of photography apps, accessories and more. Fortunately, SnApp Shots is such a good-looking book, that once you have mastered the mobile photography world, it can be showcased as the “perfect coffee table book” for your living room!  :)
