A harmonious surprise

Love a great surprise… especially when it comes in the form of great music…

I never thought I would become a Rihanna fan. I also never took a moment to try. It just goes to show that one should never judge a book (or at least the music) by its cover.

This piano version of “Love The Way You Lie” is aaaah-maz-inggg!

Does Music Bring Out Your Sexy?

Does Music Bring Out Your Sexy?  An old blog I recently found and decided to share…

I am going to try to keep this blog short and sweet for two reasons.  First, it’s almost 2am.  Second, I dont know if what I am about to write about will create a “too much for me to handle” feeling.  As I spent my evening lounging in my living room, I put on my headphones like I do every night and stumbled upon a group of songs that I listen to when I am either getting ready, or already on route for a night out.  Music invokes so many emotions for me, but the best is when it brings on an empowered, goddess like feeling.  “Got You Where I Want You” by the Flies, “Artificial Red” by Mad Season, “Beautiful” by Moby are all songs that bring out the sexy in me.  They are some of my true feel goods, and add an erotic sense of strength in a female when listened to.  There are definitely more, but it is amazing how songs can induce passionate feelings, and even bring out dominant behavioristics.  Clearly some can create a subdued response, but these songs and a few more in particular, bring out a soft aggression.  They not only make me feel feminine, but add a sense of security within myself.  I’m not sure if each of the artists were hoping for these results in women, but, I am sure that their popularity increased with the female race because of them.  Moby for instance, is a compelling and talented artist, yet, generally associated with a certain genre.  By creating his song “Beautiful”, he captured a different type of listener and developed a new following.  Take the band MGMT, and listen to their synthesized, self-proclaimed drug induced work.  The assumption would be that their fans are composed of club kids and teen dreams.  “Time to Pretend” kicks in, and although the words are not associated with anything sexy, once again, the music brings on vivid thoughts and an energy that makes one beleive they are on top of the world.  If a song by MGMT is thrown into your playlist while driving, watch your speed.  Somehow, you become invincible and will push the limit.  Even songs that slow it down a notch can create intense emotions associated with sex.  “Beautiful Girl” by INXS, another one of my all time favorites, is a real feel good.  Then we have the polar opposite.  I remember when Kings of Leon first came out with “Sex on Fire” and there wasn’t a woman in a bar or club that didn’t want to rock your world… regardless of who you were.  Hearing that song makes women feel irresistable, which men feed into.  It is almost as if your pheremones get pumped out of your body while the music flows through your veins. Music brings out ones inner thoughts, and if it strikes you perfectly, it can make you invoke the same feelings in others that you have for yourself at that very moment.  Remember how strong music is and what it can do for you… dont let those feelings go, but…be careful how you use their power.  Music has done incredible things for me.  Let it do the same for you.

Music Sets All Stages

IN SEARCH OF THE DAYS WHERE MUSIC LEGENDS WERE MADE… IN SEARCH OF THE NEXT ARTIST WHO WILL MAKE ME WANT TO MAKE THEIR STAGE MINE… MUSIC SETS ALL STAGES… WHAT STAGE ARE YOU ON TODAY…

[amazon asin=B001BBH6OU&text=www.amazon.co.us&template=mp3 clips&chan=default]THE STAGE – JAZZY WITH SOUL, BEAUTIFUL VOICES AND LYRICS THAT ROCK…

AMAZING… A bold statement on my part but true. The playlist described in this post is a compilation of women who know how to set the tune. Think of yourself, morning, noon or night… this playlist can accompany almost any mood.

First off, in the morning with a cup of tea, kids sitting at the table, puppies basking in the sun and you simply enjoying the morning air… Starting with a little Carla Bruni, whether in French or English she has a soothing and intoxicating voice. She is a nice start because her music eases you into a trance like mode. Just comfortable, peaceful and soft with a cool vibe. I love the guitar and lack of too many noticeable instruments in her recordings. The next to throw into the mix is definitely a little Amy Winehouse. I have to say that I was not a huge fan of her commercialized music. If you actually delve into her past albums and more current songs that were not highly publicized, you will find a voice that will never be forgotten. She is absolutely amazing. Starting off or ending the day with Amy Winehouse makes you want to close your eyes and slowly rock from side to side or grab your partners hands and dance about in the middle of your kitchen or pretty much anywhere. Her renditions of “Our Day Will Come’ and “Will You Still Love Me” are as good if not better than the originals (I generally despise re-makes of original songs).

Generally I like adding some mix into a playlist but the mood I get into when listening to these ladies is tough to let flow into a different mood so I am going to stick with these amazing voices and add Adele next. The one description that comes to mind when I listen to her voice is simply powerful. Her words are perfect. Each song is perfect and I have yet to dislike anything that flows out of her. Some of it may be a bit morbid but it still doesn’t matter. She emphasizes just the right way and her voice is like an oversized punctuation mark. She’s just awesome. Moving from Adele, I have only a few more to add for today. First Christina Perri. When I first heard “Jar Of Hearts” all I could think of was how many of my friends would have loved to hear that just at the apex of a break up. She speaks to not only the pop culture teenager but the 30 something in the middle of their world falling apart. Never mind the fact that her voice is beautiful! ”Bluebird” and “Arms” are another two of her songs you must listen to! She is not only a great artist but her songs are easy to belt out along with her and truthfully, make you feel pretty empowered.

The last artist/song I am going to write about now is Regina Spector. Now, she doesn’t quite fit into this Jazzy mode but I have to mention her. Her song “The Call” was featured in the movie “The Chronicles Of Narnia”. It was played during the closing credits and I ended up buying the album simply because of this song. She brings tears to my eyes and happiness at the same time while listening to her words. It’s like listening to someone about a lost love or the thought of a loved one leaving to go over seas. The hope, love and thought of losing them all at once encompass you. Emotional as it is, the song is incredible and I suggest taking a moment to feeling it for yourself.

My Beautiful Little Girl & Some Family Magic

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SOUND

Today, and almost everyday for that matter, I have the pleasure of spending amazing time with my children.  More than that, I watch them.  I see them with delight in their eyes every morning wondering what their day will bring.  I have the luxury of holding them at night before they drift off to sleep.  We make tents out of their comforters, on their beds and read with a flashlight.  Even the simplicity of watching a movie with all of our hands heading for the popcorn bowl at the same time is a joy.  Our family is close, my girls, inseparable.  They are growing up quickly though.  I am trying to embrace each day.  Not focused on the past or the future.  I just want to savor in every moment I have with my little ones.  Parenting is hard enough.  I cannot look back at the things I “could” have done differently.  I may not make the right decision tomorrow either.  Heck, even if I think I should have dealt with a situation a certain way, if the same one occurs in three weeks, I may not handle it the way I believe I should have in the first place.  Regardless, whether I am a great parent in some ways, and not so perfect in others, I don’t mind.  These are not the things I want to dwell on.  I cannot focus on things like that when I am spending quality time with my girls.  Today, like many other days, I had the luxury of listening to something beautiful.  My daughter Talia.  Every time Talia sits down for a meal and starts eating, we have the pleasure of listening to a soft, sweet little voice hum a tune.  Usually, it is the same every time.  Today was different.  As she sat and ate her breakfast, I heard a familiar hum, just not the one I normally hear.  Somehow, she remembered a little tune I used to hum to both of my daughters when they were babies.  The last time I recall humming my made up lullaby to either of them was about two years ago.  Listening to Talia and amazed at her memory, my eyes welled up just a bit and I smiled ever so slightly.  It’s little moments like this that make being a parent absolutely magical.
